... nach zu urteilen, war er der litauischen Sprache wenig bis gar nicht mächtig, aber keine Ahnung was fürn Landsmann. Gut, ich kenn da ja nichts, ich also rund heraus:"You're not from here, are you?!" - "No..." - "Where you wanna go?" "I thought about the Curonian Spit, but I guess today it's to late..." - "What??? Why? C'm on! I'm going there either, may I join you, Ive already been here, thats not far!!!" - "Why not... Danny, nice to meet you!" - "Martina, nice to meet you ...
Klaipeda, Lithuania friederbi... dark at night when walking back, but didnt feel unsafe to me. From the hotel to old town takes around 15 minutes on foot. Most of the way is a shopping street. The old town it self is small and not very exciting, but has some nice restaurants and bars. I had dinner somewhere outside in the city centre, which was very cheap. This being a Sunday evening, it was pretty quiet.
Klaipeda, Lithuania jphil8871I am going to another beach town, Palanga, 30 min North. Micro busses leave frequently. They appear to wait until full which can be 2 minutes or 40 minutes (like to Nida).

This is a total beach resort. It's pedestrian walk even has Carnival type rides, huge cafes, ice cream everywhere … The crowds dwarf Nida. The beach has a volleyball tournament going on. I do my thing which is to walk ...
Palanga, Lithuania will.traveller... very sore. Walking is painful with every step. I can't figure out anything in particular that caused it. I walk with difficulty to dinner, a great Armenian restaurant. Their translations for food are off. I order lamb shank (thinking Osso Bucco) and it turns out to be rack of lamb. Still works for me. I do several infused vodka shots and some brandy to hopefully ease my pain for sleeping. I skip the bars and opt for bed. It still after midnight. Everything is later out here.
Klaipeda, Lithuania will.traveller... the positioning of the missiles had to be changed several times. All this lay hidden until 1976 when satellite imaging technology got better and the Russians were busted by the Americans, who saw the four slide back mounds. The Russians then secreted out the warheads back into Russia (not the kind of things you can hide in a car boot either!). Even so, it was never ...
Zemaitija NP - Lithuania, Lithuania roamingmonk... communicated. It wasn't the cleanest house and the shared bathroom was upstairs through the kitchen and down the hall. I wanted to get to the beach so I took it since single rooms are often tough to find. After the cool rain of Vilnius I was glad to at least see peeks of sunshine in Palanga. It was still a bit nippy and quite windy as I walked through town. There were plenty of people out and about but most were wearing heavy coats rather than swimwear. I walked out on the ...
Palanga, Lithuania rnriggins... race competition which looked as if anyone could enter we thought about entering winnie but didnt want to put all the fancy cars to shame. Claire was gutted by the time we had set up camp and got back into town it was all over so no pics ahhhhh bet your all really sad. The best of it all was they closed a public highway for all these petrol heads as if they would do that in England no chance..........
Palanga, Lithuania no1pablo... mansion - an equivalent place would be worth well over a million dollars in Calgary. There was a language barrier, but we managed to sort everything out. It was funny - it actually worked out cheaper to book a triple than a double, so that's what we did. Off for a stroll on the promenade and some lunch. The kebab was huge and was actually served inside a pita - most places in Europe serve it inside a bun ...
Palanga, Lithuania pwong... of everything nice had been destroyed. Was pleasantly surprised with how nice the town was and how comfortable I felt walking around everywhere (again, I had been warned). Found my way to the ferry terminal and froze a little waiting for the ferry to take us across to Smiltynes. Once on the other side I had quite a bit of time to kill until the next bus to Nida. I went to the pub and had some lunch (I am guessing everyone has figured out by now ...
Klaipeda, Lithuania lindsaym... number for our accommodation, but had to ask what street we were on to find it. It was the right street - the main street, and so we continued to walk down it to search. We found the right number - a cute house, and were about to knock on the door, when someone approached and asked if we were the ones that telephoned from information. Yes... They then proceeded to lead us to the back of the property, to what looked like the barn, or a converted garage! Our room was still being ...
