... After a walk around one of the smaller lakes we met up with K&G and all travelled to Gustrow about 1 hr drive. This old town has a Dom, market square and large palace. Alas it was mostly closed being Sunday afternoon. We did manage to find a small restaurant open and they were kind enough to supply us with drinks to quench our thirst before returning to our hotel outside Schwerin for ...

After breakfast we headed to the small ferry that shuttles across the estuary between Poland and Germany. A short crossing that costs nothing but one wonders why no bridge has been built. The next day we took a bus to another village on the other side of the lake called Plau am See. The name originates in the Portuguese language ...

Today a 30min meandering walk to view the exhibits at the Neues Museum on Berlin's Museum Island. Then drive back to Hamburg via the impressive Schwerin Palace, a grand ducal residence and seat. Unfortunately we missed the guided tour and made do with an audio commentary via headphones. We lost half an hour during the drive due to a traffic jam resulting from an inexplicable transition from autobahn to a single lane road ending at a set of traffic lights. ...

    I'm taking it easy

Part of taking it easy is more hitchhiking. Don't get me wrong, I still like to move on. Staying in one spot for a long time without good reason, just doesn't do it for me. When I break up camp, the weather is not great. Today I'm planning on hitchhiking to Wismar. I walk to the border of Grevesmühlen and find a nice spot to hitchhike. It's not long before someone picks me up and drops me five kilometre from Wismar centre. I ...
