      After our trip to Solingen and Cologne between Christmas and New Years we returned to Bielefeld where we spent our time exploring what the area had to offer.

      A couple of the highlights included;

      • Our first snow for the year, including the first snowball fight!
      • Sparrenburg (Bielefeld) Castle which was originally built in the 13th century.
      • Hermannsdenkmal Monument, which is large monument to Hermann ...

In the evening we all went to Church, the service was well attended and it was interesting to listen to a service in another language Even though we could not understand all that was being said it gave us time to sit, pray and reflect on our family and friends back home in Australia. The weather was cold with a slight drizzle however it was not enough to stop us from ...

      including schnpps and of course some local beer. We then started off in 'our’ car for Berlin,
      the drive to Berlin to a few hours and provided a good opportunity for Nathan
      to get use to driving on the right side of the road again even if he was not
      willing to go quite as fast as some of the other cars on the autobahn. We sat on a comfortable 125-130kph ...

      Bad Pyrmont: pretty town, old folk and a spa

      So funny, on the drive over I came very close to the town where my surname comes from, in the Detmold / Bielefeld region. But I didn't visit that particular village again, it had been quite a long drive as it was and that would have cost me an extra hour.

      Bad Pyrmont... a resort town for senior citizens. I was about 30 years below the average age in that town! :-) But that made it feel very safe and mellow.
