... site we had to travel through the St Gotthard Tunnel. Only 17km long! This goes through a mountain that is 2,108 metres high. Amazing scenery passing the Vierwaldstattersee. Found the site, Camping Reussebruke, fortunately we got there just before 12pm and were met by a gentleman who ushered us into a spot and showed us exactly how we had to park the van! he then told us to bring the passports later as 'Vee are shutting ...
... Well, it's hard to compare but the best was...
Japan with its impeccable service, great standard and to-die-for sushi and sashimi
China for its amazing history and culture and yummy dumplings
India being the most incredible, fascinating country and having the most delicious food ever
Nepal with its... hmmm, highest mountains and... hmmm
Philippines for its awesome ...
... so no real harm done.
In Lucerne it was warm, sunny and very humid – our Hotel was about 800m from the station so we walked out there and checked into our very basic room (NZ$160 for twin beds pushed together, no TV and shared bathroom – we did have a balcony though, looking out onto a 'quiet’ street).
Because the forecast for Sunday wasn’t so good, we talked to a very helpful lady at the tourist centre and booked a trip up ...
... trip down the mountain was even more exciting than the way up. Its always a shock when the cablecar takes the big lurch out of the wheel-room and into space, it seems!!!
The railway station in Engelberg we discovered, after waiting for the bus on the way up, lay just a short and pleasant walk along the river from the bottom of the cableway. So a nice walk, back onto the waiting train and into Luzern and thence Malters after another long and very succesful day's holiday!
... and I was only excited for the chocolate. Zac's getting crazy ideas of buying gold coins or opening a bank account. I made sure to point out the gold-wrapped chocolate 'coin' that was under $10. Later last night, Parisa made Raclette (Swiss specialty) for us for dinner and we stuffed ourselves with the melty, delicious cheese. It was nice to just hang out and talk to them both after days of endless site seeing ...
