We were planning to go to Liechtenstein but thought we may as well as it was sort of on our way. It's the worlds 6 smallest country so it would have been rude not to go..haha.

We didn't drive to the main town but to another.. where really there wasn't anything. I did get a photo with the tourist sign though. Had to somehow prove I'd been there!
Liechtenstein, Liechtenstein emmasadventures...

Obersaxen, Switzerland acgwhaleOur third stop of the day was our first in Austria. Now I was entering undiscovered lands! Feldkirch is right on the Switzerland border. The old town centre is surrounded by towers, and a castle sits on a hill above.

We explored Feldkirch and a few of its towers. The old town is quite charming with its colorful buildings, trickling fountains, and small shops. When we tried to ...
Feldkirch, Austrian Alps, Austria travelingdiva... what a sorry sight we were. We find the hotel, register and get to our room. It had an elevator a bit bigger than the one at the prior hotel.

The building is old and traditional Swiss. It has beams and wood paneling and slate floors. Our room is great with antique furnishings and a balcony. The balcony faces the Matterhorn, but it is so dark and cloudy you couldn't see a trace of it.

We walked back into town but turned back when it was raining too hard ...
Chur, Swiss Alps, Switzerland lafalotWork has been quite slow lately so since I had nothing better to do today, I took a train to Sargans, Switzerland, and then waited for a bus to Vaduz, Liechtenstein. I missed the bus that left 4 minutes after I arrived. By missed, I mean I couldn't find it until I saw it driving past me. And there are only two or three bus stands in Sargans at the train station, so it was completely due to a lack of intelligence on my part.

Once I ...
Vaduz, Liechtenstein travelingdiva... our way down from the Pass Albula. Then the descent down into the Italian speaking Ticino canton past the Lago Blanco to Poschiavo(1014m). This turned out to be a very sleepy town nestled in its own valley with the fast flowing Puschiav River.
However, in stopping at Poschiavo we were unable to experience the amazing Brusio circular viaduct.
Excuses for another trip one day!!!

After a very nice lunch outside a pleasant Restaurant in the town ...
Chur, Swiss Alps, Switzerland ankorjuglor... and it cost more than our room. So much for the budget.....I´ll be taking donations when we get home. First time in a room with the bathroom in the hall...not too weird, but we do have a sink and a corner shower in the room. The room is all honey stained pine floors and bed, armoire, desk, night tables, and we look out to the ...
Chur, Switzerland cperkin... had purchased rail tickets for a journey from Chur in central Schweis to Poschiavo, a town on the cusp of the downward run to Italy beyond St. Moritz. We would have taken the train from Radolfzell...all the way...but it meant getting up even earlier for a 5 o'clock train and not returning till late at night. So we compromised and with L's agreement we decided to drive to Chur the one day, catch the train the next and return that night. Navigator in chief was L who took her job ...
Chur, Switzerland brianc... and experienced today. I know I said the same thing about Austria, and it is still true, but this was a whole different level of experience.

After we returned to Davos, we took a short walk and then we had dinner at a very nice little bistro about a block from the hotel. What a nice, quiet way to cap off a wonderful day. It will be an early night tonight. The bags have to be in the hallway by 6:30 am, with breakfast at 6:45 am. We will transfer to Germany (via Austria) tomorrow.
St. Moritz, Swiss Alps, Switzerland pemalak... to help rescue them.

Well, it’s about 8:50 p.m. and I’ve been up for about 33 hours. Tomorrow we have a day off, we’ll stay in Davos and walk around. I’m starting to be concerned that Davos is maybe just a little too large for us to tackle, but we’ll see.

8/29/99 Sunday

DavosWe woke up to a sunny, chilly morning.
