... main road. Funny, I thought, but I thought I would comply. It took me down some very nice leafy lanes (no motorway though) and I ended up at a car ferry to take me across to the north bank of the river. I somehow couldn't imagine that this was the prime route to Berlin from anywhere, so I decided to about-turn, and use my own brain power. The thing you notice about driving through Holland is just how fit everyone looks. Of course, that's because there are so many cycling lanes, all used ...
Fürstenau, Germany shanemhewitt... students which felt really weird!) They also put together some skits including making fun of the teachers…they pegged me pretty good with my classroom quirks and stuff. We all had a good laugh and enjoyed ourselves. We’ll miss them!
I’ve just gotten back into a normal sleep routine, as I had been waking up in the middle of the night for the last couple of months to watch the Red Wings play in the playoffs coming ...
... they opened them up again so we could get our flight. The flight was really nice, because we had the best seats in the economy class...right by the exit! When we arrived in Germany our family welcomed us with balloons & a "welcome sign" ... it was a big surprise!!! We got really spoiled with delicious food everywhere we went (not typical German cuisine, as we are too heath concious ...so many salads!). We were also very lucky with the weather ...
Erfurt, Thuringia, Germany rommy... 8230;German drivers are really not that great…it’s just legal to drive really fast.)
I’ve also made my decision for next year. I had been holding out to hear from this job I interviewed with in Michigan, but once again I found rejection…bummer. So, I will probably be signing a new contract here at the school this week. (Which will include a nice little raise) The plan is to try to come back to ...
... ever been to. It is filled with old books and artwork that shows the famous people of Weimar. The 3 story Rokoko Hall is stunning. Heavily damaged by the fire, it has been wonderfully restored. They even make you wear these big slippers over your shoes when you go inside (perhaps for noise control as well as protecting the old wood floor.) Unfortunately they don’t let you take pictures, but I’ll try to take some from the internet and put them in my ...
Weimar, Thuringia, Germany robconr... I was due. They are so strange and unpredictable…and wow is it tough to teach a class when you have a splitting headache and tunnel vision! (not to mention ride your bike to school!) Fortunately it passed relatively quickly and I could finish the day with only a big headache but without the debilitating tunnel vision.
I also hosted a girl from Quebec Tues and Wed nights via couchsurfing. She is studying in Freiburg and was a ...
... was, in fact, wrong. Oops, so I got a bunch of half burnt crunchy cookies…haha. (I still ate them though…)
The next batch was actually pretty good. Aaron and Martin and I sat around eating them. I’m teaching them to like America. They also sort of kidded me about cooking, and told me to bake a pie, specifically an apple pie. So I looked up a recipe online and decided I would attempt that later!

... been said during winter, the famers will be making wood carvings and coucou clocks, while the women will be preparing the brandy cherries for the black forest cake. Other than these products, Black Forest is also famous for it's lake Titisee. Actually the "see" in Titisee means lake in german, hence it's actually called the Titi Lake. It's a beautiful lake, being one of the source of the Blue Denube in Viena. This time was a rather different experince for me. It was snowing and the ...
