Cr 2 No. 6-80 Santa Marta, Colombia
... after everyone else we were told to go to 'bed' by the park rangers. We retired to our hammocks without dispute.

On the second night we chose to pay extra for the upstairs hammocks. These are hammocks in a hut on top of rocks. The setting was amazing, the hammocks were out in the open but not such a good idea after all. The wind picked up, driving waves against the rocks below and it got pretty cold. Between the 3 of us we got NO sleep. It was like sleeping in a ...
Taganga, Colombia worping09... surprise.

The second day we went to a nearby beach called Rodadero. This was a much nicer beach than the one in Santa Marta, this is where all rich Colombians spend their holidays. When we arrived at the beach we were hassled by locals selling all kinds of stuff. We were being pig ignorant, must have said "No gracias" about 20 times.

Santa Marta, Colombia worping09... and I went to go get some coffee. We ran into most of the people I had introduced her to at Tyrona. We all decided to go to the bus station together. 3 of us made it. So, as I was buying my ticket to go to Medallin, who do I see? Sarah. She is heading back to Medallin today as well. So, now we are on a bus together for 16 hours. UGH!! I should have flown. J

Right now it is 10 and I have been on the bus since 4. Time to pop a pill and go to sleep.

Later guys!!!!
Santa Marta, Colombia ccajoleas... nisam vidjela.
Parque Tayrona, Magdalena, Colombia malvada... she had one of those umbrella hats that we haven't seen in years. The same day, on the beach, was someone wearing an umbrella hat.

#3 In our room we were watching Michael Jackson's thriller video. After the video, we changed the channel and watched 2 minutes of a movie that showed the character in the movie watching TV. She was watching the Thriller video.

#4 On the way to breakfast, I commented on how the trees were blocking the view of the ocean. Stacy ...
Santa Marta, Colombia travelbee... 8217;s. Two of the beach area’s were not suitable for swimming, at one site over 200 people had drowned due to extremely strong currents. The other two areas were protected by a line of rocks about 200 metres out creating a natural bay area. These beaches, unlike at other beaches we had visited in Colombia, had golden sand and crystal clear water. There were Cabana’s, hammocks, and camping areas close by where those who had decided to stay the ...
Taganga, Colombia casebrownfamily... it was clear that it was not a very well developed fishing village, the roads were some of the worst we had seen. Along the seafront were some shops, many restaurants, hotels, a disco and the usual kiosks we have grown accustomed to. The road itself was under development, so it was closed to traffic and had large holes and mounds of soil ready to be used for the road surface. The town gently sloped towards the bay so that the houses, most in disrepair, all had a glimpse of the bay. The ...
Taganga, Colombia casebrownfamily... the other. Besides the four of us, there were only 5 other tourists staying on the beach. Paradise found!

Jorge, the dueño of the campsite we were staying in was really friendly. He´s a Colombian who studied at UNAM in Mexico and worked as a reporter until moving to this beach where he runs the campgrounds and works with the indigenous people in the area, the Kogi. He made us chicken curry for dinner and we ate by the sand ...
Taganga, Colombia ochavez79... in Santa Marta (a dodgy town), but it will give us a ride to Tayrona today, and for some reason it is very popular with the gringos. After checking in, we hopped over to Taganga for the evening, where we walked around a little bit and had dinner. It was a nice little village, and we saw a really cool lizard while hiking in the hills above it. No pictures though, hopefully we'll see another one.
Santa Marta, Colombia lbackstrom... the local farm if anyone asked. The threat this time was from the army boys who would shut him down and if tried he would probably get 10 years. The other side to this story is that before the government turned up these local boys were making a hell of a lot of coke and selling to the paramilitary forces. These guys were their friends and best customers. Now, he makes far less, takes more risks and therefore has to ...
