... wall paintings showing In fine detail a story from Greek mythology. There is also a 'heroon' an above ground monument dedicated to the cult of the distinguished dead. All in all a brilliant museum. We are little surprised at the lack of security at the sight though, in the UK there would be handbag searches and guards dotted around with so much gold and antiquity on one site! We walked back to Dream catcher and arrived just as the rain turned into a thunderstorm which raged most if the ...

      Day 123

A travel blog entry by dream-catcher on Dec 02, 2014

This morning we are going to put our hanging around waiting for the museum to open day to good use. We drove to Giannitsa a small town about half an hour away, the road there passed mostly through industrial sites, with fingerposts to other archaeologic sites, of which there are many in this area. We found a parking place in the town and set off to the 'Internet top up' shop, we had passed it on the way in, so we knew where to ...

We were given full instructions of how to taste the wine, he spat his out but we weren't wasting ours and down it went. I preferred the white wine, the ...

... believe the size of the Mosquitos here, we'll be keeping the windows tightly shut. Les brave the 'pesky blighters' and took Logan for a walk, I am not that brave! The beach has a few fishermen on it and an enclosure where there must be some farmed fish. In the bushes in front if us there are lots of small birds we think they are Cirl Buntings. The washing that we did yesterday is still hanging around us as we sit in what feels like a Chinese laundry for the evening. We need some ...

... lot of gold and other precious materials suitable for a wealthy burial. Unfortunately, the grave monument that I was looking for wasn't on display, but I was able to get a sense of what other burials there were in Pella and the locations of the various cemeteries, which will be helpful for my project as well.

After I finished at the museum, I walked further up the hill to the site of the royal palace. There wasn't much to see here, as the buildings have been covered ...
