Ah, the Greek islands. Land of long days, hot sunshine, and cold winds. Erin and I had a good last day and a half in Athens, including a long bus trip out to see the Temple of Poseidon at sunset on our last night). Thankfully, we didn't have to find additional accommodation, as we had thought the previous night. Highlights of Myknonos (Sunday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon) --Myknonos is lovely and so cute. Finding a non-windy spot is a challenge, but once we did, fabulous. --Cheaper accomm...

Now it was our turn to check out the boat. Her name was Sea Party, perfect for us. Checking out the boat, we realized how cramped we were going to be, but for the trip of a lifetime we could deal with it. When we were told that no toilet paper could be flushed down the toilet, we were taken aback ...
Delos is an incredibly interesting place. The entire island is a collection of ruins where no one is allowed to stay on the island overnight so everyone who visits are day trippers—most of whom are staying in Mykonos. It was an excellent day for exploring ruins at just over 60F degrees it was cool and pleasant. There is a lot to explore on the island so be sure to leave enough time to see it all.
There are no complete building standing, but ...
... beautiful place with the village full of white-washed buildings scattered around a maze of little streets and alley ways. Just at it seemed that Santorini was made for couples, Mykonos was make for singles and the party life. This is one place that I want to return to again.

Plus I've decided 2012 is legit. Maybe not 2012 exactly, but for sure the idea that we are here and then we're gone. You can't not realize and appreciate that fact walking around all of these antiquities. You don't get to plan for the end, or for the demise of a 'people'. If you could, all these ...

One of the most recognized landmarks on Mykonos has been their windmills. These mills were once used to refine grain and compact it for transport. A fairly strong wind year round made this a great location.
The intinerary had the Ruby departing Mykonos at 2pm so we made our way back to the tender at the marina in plenty of time to catch a lunch on board. After lunch, we chose to relax around the ...

Tonight we are on our own for dinner. We go back into town in small groups. My own group of four opts to come back to the hotel after dinner in order to pack and be ready to leave tomorrow morning on our transfer to Naxos. Let’s hope the rains continue to hold off!
... archeological museum, and spent some time navigating the streets. Lunch was definitely worth the time and effort. That evening we went to a restaurant that our very helpful guesthouse host recommended. It wasn't one of the places along the water where you can dine with waves lapping up at your feet, but it was still cute and we didn't have to pay extra for the sea view. We had a fabulous meal of local wine, Greek salad, and lamb. Meg's ...

We left and she couldn't get the ring out of her mind. We walked a little longer and then said she had to have that ring. Well, he dropped the price and with a 140 euro loan from me, which is 210 Canadian ...
Mykonos Town, Greece planetwalkerHow on Earth did I get to be so lucky?
My family and I went on a cruise of the Greek Islands. We ate a lot, got sea sick once, soaked up the sun, and absorbed the classically beautiful white and blue colours on the islands. There weren't very much ship activities that my sister and I were interested in but Allyson and I did win a bingo game! Mykonos was by far our favorite island because of its beauty.
