... mosaic tiles and lots of little bars and restaurants. All old but mostly well maintained. Main piazza and duomo had medieval look and were huge. Church was designed to be biggest in Europe till Papa stepped in. Taxi to Ducati 20€ for museum tour which had to be booked and was a bit disappointing cause factory closed this week. Lots nice bikes including first model Cicolino (small puppy) 100cc. Lots ...

I had to navigate my way through the protestors when I came out of the ruins as the march had reached the plaza and had grown significantly. ... their whistles and megaphones, it made it very easy to negotiate the streets and tourist sights, given there were no cars and very few people! Bologna University was founded in 1088 and is the oldest uni in the world. While we were visiting, we assume graduation ceremonies were taking place because lots of students were walking around with garlands of leaves on their heads, and groups of family and friends were doing lots of cheering and were madly popping ...

... driving was a bit hectic still but manageable.

Afternoon siesta and dinner about 8 or 9.

Oh yes , I found another church. Small and attached to a huge house. Saint Cecilia. Very plain but for the magnificant 13th C frescos depicting the saints story. Marriage , life, matredom , then be-heading and heads stuck back on to be buried. Sigh. Horrible horrible horrible. X

I love Bologna. Very different city to what we have seen so ...
