Mount Hotham Bright, Victoria, Australia, 3741
... were actually skiing there. I would have wanted to stay in bed.
We drove through Mt Hotham on our way to Dinner Plain. Dinner Plain is the main accommodation area of the mountain. Our first stop was The Dog Sled Tour. It was sooooooo much fun, there was also a puppy huskie called shadow he was really cute. Renee went first, than kath & lastly me. Nae & I had a drive of the sled which was really scary because I felt like I was going to fall off. While we were waiting ...
... popular with cyclists and there were certainly a lot of avid bike riders in our camp. There is a rail trail - old railway tracks converted to a fantastic bike trail. You can ride all the way to Wangaratta (about 90k) if you feel so inclined!. We decided that a ride to Porepunkah at the base of Mt Buffalo would suit us nicely. We were heading off to hire the bikes when a lovely couple we met at Bright (Bev and Barry Sykes) insisted we take their ...
Bright, Victoria, Australia madnomadsHiya! After saying goodbye to Greg and Felicity in Orbost we decided to travel back inland, supposedly to escape the holiday crowds at the coast, but this was not to be as we were to find out. Omeo was the sight of one of Victoria's gold rushes and noted as one of the most lawless. Unfortunately most of the original buildings were destroyed by fire around 1930, with only a few remaining now. There wasn't a whole lot to see in town, but we did do a walk to view those original ...
Mount Beauty, Victoria, Australia alessa...
Bright, Victoria, Australia alessaDuring our break back in Austalia we managed to spend a weekend with our girls in Bright, staying at Kay and Bruce Reid's house in the Buckland Valley. We were lucky with the weather as it was cold, but sunny. It was great to catch up with Kay and Bruce and find out what they have been up to lately.
Bright, Victoria, Australia rholmberg... I would sleep it off and be ok for the morning. The next day the 5 of us got up at 5.45am and got ready for our climb. I had my camera ready as I couldn't wait for the views from the top, was very excited!! Unfortunately about 1/4 of the way up the mountain, I developed a bad headache, felt lightheaded and was throwing up. I decided to come down, as I was feeling really shaky and crook, and there's no way I ...
Mount Beauty, Australia trishigirl... into the lodge, claimed our beds, and i put Ros' tuna mornay (incredible stuff!) in the oven, before enjoying a beer and started to relax. Ate dinner, had a bit of a yarn to everyone as they started to arrive, then hit the sack... long day, and definitely needed the sleep. Monday 16th July Woke up earlyish to hit the slopes. Was good to be able to walk from the lodge to the top of Davenport Access and ride that to the bottom of the Village. Wasn't able to do this ...
Mt Hotham, Australia jimmie...
Coomba, Australia juliat... it started getting dark on us...REALLY dark. Australia's not really a big fan of highway lights, so we had to be especially careful on those little two lane roads. After consulting our trusty lonely planet, we saw that there was no way we were gonna hit canberra anytime soon, so we decided to stop at the next town...Cooma! We arrived at a sketchy little hostel in the middle of the night, and checked in. It was FREEZING!!! Who ...
