... went to purchase some mighty fine morzarella. After this it absolutely started to pour with rain – there is certainly a lot more rain in Italy and it is much heavier. We decided that the rain was too much to go out again and we were too full to go out so we had a lighter morzarella dinner at home. Another great day in Italy! BTW we drove past a house called LA CASA DI NONNA LINA – how appropriate.

... a difference. We needed to unpack, rest and just hang around. However tonight Davide, his wife Romina and beautiful little boys Diego and Matteo came round for dinner as did Michele and his parner Irena. Mainly Antonetta (Toni’s wife) with a little help from me – we prepared great pizzas which were cooked in the wood fired oven. A great night of eating, drinking and great company. I always really like it here and feel at home.

... on a few columns or pieces of rubble. Our guide for the Colosseum was great. Very witty. And knowledgeable and a little politically incorrect occasionally. Amazing structure. It is very large and tall and would have been magnificent when is was complete. Never realised that it was sophisticated enough to even have a retractable roof made of sails and worked by 300 sailors with ropes and pulleys. And it was built in only ten years..... ... have, we decided to go to the attached restaurant for lunch. It was a location just like what you would imagine,! Sitting under an umbrella overlooking the beach and the blue sea. Lovely! Lunch was great. Seafood oriented, naturally enough. Liz ordered skewer of fish and Michael fried prawn and squid. Both were very large serves and delicious. We also were given grilled vegetables and a green salad - again big serves. It was a great lunch. After this we decided to give the ruins ...
