... ceremony so we asked the security guard about it and he said to come back and watch the welcoming ceremony. It was wonderful to watch a traditional Fijian welcoming ceremony with their native costumes and kava, plus seeing all the dignitaries from the South Pacific islands where we have visited was very coincidental ! We are finishing our days here with meeting up with TBB 1st Mate Teh for "a stuff your face and drink all afternoon" Italian feast! Fun. See you at home ...

... the SIVB who was hosting the travel writer knew Benjamin, the owner manager of Matikuri and had his number, so he called him and left a couple of messages. On the boat leaving Fatboys on Monday morning, Benjamin finally called Ellison and coinfirmed that he would come and meet me at the airport ("airport").

There are no banks or ATMs in Marovo Lagoon and no credit card facilities. They are not covered by the landline phone coverage ...

  • Fatboys was a true holiday paradise experience. The snorkelling was great and the setting just stunning. The food was delicious. I ended up staying 3 nights mainly due to the generosity of the management who gave me a particularly good deal for my third night. ... as it is surrounded by beautiful and isolated islands where you can go snorkelling, diving, fishing, or even climb a mountain or just relax on a beach. However there are no tour operators in Gizo so how on earth do you access what it has to offer? There is literally nothing to do in Gizo, and short of spending 5 nights in Phoebe's, I decided to go all out and fork out for an expensive resort, which gives you access ...

... a head count in a bit of paper. Security was 2 women who looked in your hand luggage. The plane was of course a small one, with 9 rows and 4 seats in each, with an aisle in between. There was 1 cabin crew. The pilot was an Aussie.
Gizo really doesn't have much there. There's a market which sells nothing in particular, like the market in Honiara. There's a large hospital which is probably the nicest building ...
