... type drink, I was very happy to find something to replace the Chang shandy I'd been making.
After a wonderful lie-in, the six of us headed out to Jomtien Beach, supposedly the nicest beach in the area, but is best described as a tropical Skeggy. The men took the plunge and waded out into the sea, they all came back bleeding from cutting themselves on the rocks. We cleaned their grazes up and put plasters on them and lay back for some sunbathing, little did ...
... chicken, followed before we waved goodbye - with some tears - to the senior Burtons at 9pm. This flustered conclusion to their stay should have come as no surprise to neither Garry nor Davina, as it is an annual event and we learnt for the first time that the biggest miscalculation resulted in them arriving for their flight 12 hours EARLY one year. Such is the nature of these loveable but crazy people that the obvious solution was to return to Pattaya and spend the night ...
... to the bars while the rest of your body is hanging outside the tuk-tuk or trolley. Same same (as they say here). But I got a seat. At the end of this run, I was directed to another tuk-tuk that would take me to Jomtien Beach, so I got in a second tuk-tuk that day and hoped I could find the Shakespeare Hotel. As I have seen everywhere so far in Thailand, and as it was in Hua Hin, we drove through mostly cityscapes, even in Pattaya; it is always ...
... I felt like I was in Vice City (A Grand Theft Auto game set in a fictionalized version of 1980s Miami for those of the older generation!) It felt strange and scary being on the back of a moped late at night in the torrential rain, although somewhat exhilirating at the same time!
This week I have started at the School for the blind, so now my schedule is more full-on; yesterday I went with two other volunteers and did ...
... to see my family (and almost as excited for the jar of peanut butter they are possibly bringing me)! In some ways I can't believe I’ve only been here 2 and a half months, but in some ways I feel like I’ve been here for ages. Seeing some family will definitely do me some good.
As I said, I’ve been under the weather lately, as has just about every foreign teacher at school. Susanna had a really bad sinus infection that ...
How has this hotel rated in the past?
