... couple of tours for the next few days and wandered around the city. Had dinner at the night market and an early one as our tour was leaving at seven the next morning and was an ALL day affair. Our tour in a mini bus started out pretty deluxe but before we knew it we were jammed into the back of a much older and rickety version as clearly we had booked the peasant tour. Our first stop along with every other minivan from Chiang Mai was at some very smelly hot springs where a few gushed ...

... most of Asia, apart from a few exceptions, the place could certainly use a Clean Up campaign, there was rubbish everywhere, such a shame. Our taxi was on time and we made good time till we hit the outskirts of Bangkok. Arrived at the Grand President at 9:30am. A$53 between the 2 of us for a 130km, 2.5 hour taxi ride, very cheap. Had to wait a while for the room but in the meantime our tour mates turned up. Great to see the familiar ...

... if the next stop was only 45 seconds away, ahh temporary bliss! Left the station and started walking down the road where I guessed the bus station was, though it wasn't looking good, stopped an American girl who was walking towards me who turned out to be at university in Bangkok, she pointed me in the right direction. note while I wouldn't do it in the UK I kind of feel entitled to stop anyone Caucasian and get them to help me out! Got to the ...

... had bargained for. Pattaya's red light district is one of the largest in Southeast Asia, and it essentially dominates the nightlife completely. Every bar we entered was not only a bar and restaurant but a brothel as well - at least they're efficient? I guess I will leave it at this - I have never used more hand sanitizer in one night in my entire life. Our second day in Pattaya turned out to be rainy, so Karen and I took advantage of this ...
