Kusadasi is a small town, with I am sure more stores than people. Five ships docked today, but there is not the congestion that is usually found. Today was our first day in the country of Turkey! We were all so exhausted from the day before but had to get up really early as we had booked a private tour guide to take us to the main attractions in Kusadasi. This made our day very stress free and relaxed, especially because we had our own air conditioned bus for transportation. We started off by going to see the house of the Virgin Mary. Istanbul does not have laundromats - so washing was an exercise of relays in the bathroom basin. The room ended up looking like a wet day laundry !!!!!!!
After an exhausting afternoon washing(!) we set off in to the pedestrian mall which leads to Taksim Square - the full length of the mall must be several Kms - with brand names mingled with Turkish gear and souvenirs. Thousands out shopping, eating, chatting, ...

We were concerned that we had chosen unwisely today because we didn't opt to tour Ephesus. And in some respects it would have been good to have gone in but it was extremely crowded with several large cruise ships in port. We came in alongside a vessel that made us look small. It carries over 3000 passengers! Our tour was on a small bus with 7 others to the village of Sirince. We did see Ephesus ...
