"We spent today with a Chinese student. I was paired with a boy called Turney but we went in a group with Kyle and Johnny, the boy he was paired with. We went for a bike ride near the beach and after Kyle had to buy a new tshirt because his was 'wringing with sweat'. ... to Pizza Hut keeping the group waiting (AND they didnt even bring us any! Whats that about!) After some grovelling, all is again rosy in the camp! Last night we were treated to a very posh dinner by Madame Chen, Vice Principal at shaungshi Junior school and one time visitor to Bo'ness. She was a wonderful host and our kids ate well, one of the best meals so far! Lastly to sign off this update - I have now been mistaken for a pupil a grand total of 11 times. My first destination in real China was YongDing to look at the ancient Tulou houses of the Hakka people.

It took my about 8 hours by train to get there, and as I was unfamiliar with the train system, I ended up with a "standing ticket," which is exactly what it sounds like. Standing. 8 hours.
