Macao, Macau amatsinrake... is a mix between Chinese and Portuguese that is really unique. From the ferry terminal we wandered through the main square, through the crowded shopping streets up to the ruins of St Paul's Church. Only the façade remains of this once beautiful church and after a few pictures we found a place for some typical Macanese food - African Chicken and Portuguese rice. Next we stopped by the Macau Museum for a little more history on the place and as the ...

Zhongshan, China thebigh... in to the stadium through a side entrance, so I also went in through the side entrance. I was surprised that there weren't more spectators in the stadium, however, it was still pretty early. The gun went off at 6:30, and I took a deep breath and tried to focus on what lay ahead. I quickly got in to my pace, and was feeling pretty good. Whenever we passed by a distance marker, I would check my watch, and do a quick calculation to see how I was doing ...

The grounds are well landscaped and maintained almost to a point that it seems out of place in China. Since I was only here for a short time, I figured that the calculated risk was slightly more favorable than my Blackjack odds that I wouldn't get sick again this time. The book says that there are some things to do in Zhuhai, but I really couldn't be bothered to go to a ...
Zhuhai, China rcys... two hours away from Lhasa. Flying out of Lhasa is so impressive with all the mountains surrounding the airport. I would have to say that it is probably the most beautiful takeoff I have ever experienced. It was a gorgeous sunny day, the sky was blue, and the clouds were white and puffy. I was surprised to see a couple monks in first class when I boarded the plane. They must be able to afford first class tickets from all that money they take in at the monasteries ...
Zhongshan, Guangdong, China gayegibson... crossed two "international borders" by traveling from Mainland China to Hong Kong, then on to Macau. It certainly gets stamps in the passport fast! The colonial legacy left Macau with a really strange fusion of East and West. The old part of town with its cobblestone lanes (bearing Portuguese names) and colonial architecture looks like it could have easily been transplanted from Europe. Actually it reminded me a lot of Malta, except the ...
Macau, Macau globedecker... s got to be at least 10,000 people making the trip every day - and this was a Monday! This, of course, excludes those coming in from the mainland. Inevitably I popped into one of these places before I left and it was heaving - but getting onto a table wasn't too tough, as long as you were prepared to go to the smallest bet tables - about £5 minimum. The real crowds were around the big bet tables - one Baccarat table had a minimum bet of around £1000 and there ...
