Huizhou villages

... and some very picturesque views. The villages are still lived in but I'm not sure I would want to live in them - very dank and dingy dwellings. By bus the next day to Little Likeng. Much more commercial than the previous villages - stalls selling the same old stuff in every alleyway. But a cute village ( still wouldn't want to live there though). Lots of cottage industry (making the wooden souvenirs ); people doing their washing in the stream flowing through the ...

Wuhan

... the city ( part of the city ) - the Changchun Temple and the Guiyuan Temple ( Taoist and Buddhist respectively ). It's getting to be "just another temple" though. Lots of rain so my walks had to be timed carefully so as not to get wet. And pretty heavy rain on one of the days. Not a lot of Western tourists - in fact I didn't see any for my whole stay in ...

The train to Wuhan was packed, and all the people were jammed into cabins the size of my bathroom, with 6 bunks, 3 on each side which meant climbing over 2 metres to get to your bed for some people. My friend, who is actually my Chinese-English language exchange partner, is in his 50's, but being quite fit didn't seem to mind clambering up this small cliff face to ...

Surprise, surprise, another cloudy misty
day with intermittent rain! We left the hotel after breakfast and went to a
different airport which allowed us to see even more of the city on our way out.
The airport was very new, quite large and filled with duty free shops. Our
flight left on time at 10:30 and we arrived in Wuhan at 12:30 to more rainy
skies. The plane was quite new and we even got a hot lunch! We picked ...
