... br>When we got on the train at around 6:30 p.m. and had hard seats. Our good friend Elizabeth from Xintian wrote us a note to give to the train conductor so that we could upgrade our tickets to either hard or soft sleeping. We endured the hard seats until about 3 a.m. when we moved to the soft-sleeper car. We traveled with two other ...
Chenzhou, Hunan, China aswanson... in a kung fu movie soon. Then in the afternoon we went rafting and got very very wet, everyone apart from me and Rich wore sandals or flip flops so we've both written of a pair of trainers each - another lesson learnt. Ping An, China byrnedm... and chicken heads - 'i dont want it thanks' and 'im full' are definitely phrases you should learn before you come here!!! the trip also included a sidetrip to the lesser three gorges, which was very enjoyable. we took a much smaller boat, and spent about 4hours on it, cruising around some really pretty scenery. there were several signs showing the water level currently and what it is expected to rise to once the damming is completed. so much will be wiped out. and later that day ...
