... of traditional style shrines and gardens, and climbed up to the top of the hill. I decided I didn't need to pay another entry fee to climb yet another pagoda. It was a nice area, but perhaps a little redundant for this particular trip.

Last Day of Teaching and Last Day with Charles
... went to a Sichuan restaurant downtown to celebrate being finished and to give Charles a good sendoff. He was set to leave for Japan early the following morning. We had a great time at dinner and went to our favorite bar in the Xijin district afterward. We didn't stay too late because Charles had to be up at five in the morning.
When we got back to our building, Sam, Mike, and I said goodbye to Charles. I was sad but managed not to cry.

When we put them on the counter, the postman gave a smug smile and said I couldn't send books and DVD's from China to the US because of some sort of problem at US customs. I told him most of the books and movies had come from the US. I just wanted to send them back. He and Wu Yue argued for a while, but to no avail. The postman wouldn't let me send the books ...
Brand New Ancient Ruins

So now I'm sitting in my room drinking tea from my 100-plus-year-old teapot, and I think it was well worth the 180 kuai.

I have about three and a half months left here. My first three and a half months, from the end of August to the middle of December, passed by slowly. But I have a feeling my last three and half months won't. I'm not ready to be done with China yet, and there are people I'm certainly not ready to say goodbye to. I don't know whether the next three and a half months will make it easier or harder.
