This is a small hillock in the south of Nanjing where legend has it that an young monk named Yunguang started preaching and raindrops fell from the heavens and rested as agate stones on the ground.

It later became an execution ground for the Nationalists when Nanjing became their capital in 1927 and it is alleged that 100,000 communists, intellectuals and peasants were murdered here by the Kuomintang.

... after tea, filled them up in the water features and soaked each other (in the shopping plaza). Locals were keen to take photos so Emma got the confidence to charge them. She made 11 Yuan. Buying towels for the kids cost more than dinner, but they had a ball!

... 8217; at school. All the children were bussed to the local convention centre for an awards ceremony with speeches and goodbyes. Selected students from each year level were recognized for achievement in various subject areas. Emma and Lochie performed with the school choir (yes – Lochie bit the bullet about being one of the only boys, and has joined).

That’s it for school now. It’s the end of the school year, and it’s only July!!!!! ...

... we hit the 3-month mark. The night before, I did not sleep well as I was worried about booking flights for xmas (internet difficulty, increasing costs, dates, airlines etc) and using a new driver. Zhang had a death in the family and needed a few days off work. The replacement driver did not speak a word of English. He took me to school Wednesday, but was nowhere to be seen when I came out.
