Today I took a trip to Nanjing, about 1hr20 on the high speed train north of Shanghai. The city was a capital after the Tianjing rebellion, and during the republican period and the Ming dynasty was founded there. It's also infamous for the war crimes committed there by the Japanese before WWII. From what I was able to see of it, I really liked Nanjing.
