What is it about the beautiful rhythm of the rice terraces that is so mesmerising? The village itself is very attractive with old woodent buildings but it is the everchanging terraces that are breathtaking.
The terraces are quite high and the ...
... see a very excited Margret running towards us and then we are shepherded outside in to 38 degree heat and very high humidity. This was soon forgotten when the cars arrive with so many excited people- Henry and son Jason in one car in which Ken travelled with Sheila travelling with Margret and husband Lee. The trip for Xiao Lan took about 2 hrs through very busy traffic and a few detours as we lost our way- neither Henry or Lee have ...
Zhongshan, Guangdong, China kingstravel... the airport which was really awesome, it goes over 300mph and is levitating, so it's like riding on a plane when the plane sways from one side to the other. It took 8mins only!!
Pudong airport is supposed to see a lot of transfer passengers each year apparently, but really it didn't look very big (although I only used the terminal 2 building to be fair).
Shenzhen airlines were excellent, very good and I enjoyed the ...
... got up in the dark the morning of New Years Eve & headed off to Wuhan airport for the 1st leg of my journey. As there were no direct flights to Malaysia from Wuhan, I flew to Haikou which is the capital of Hainan (a tropical island at the southern tip of China). I sat next to a very young couple who had just got married & were flying to Hainan for their honeymoon. Just when I was feeling all lovey-dovey for them, I looked over to see a woman staring at me like I was from outer space ...
Haikou, Hainan, China ericadempsey... with other participants. We are about 65 people from New Zealand, Australia, Portugal, Oman, Iran, Sweden, Germany, Holland, United Kingdom , South Africa and of course the USA . Can you imagine the difficulty these locals have understanding our English with the different accents when we have difficulty understanding each other. God Bless America!
Beihai, Guangxi Zhuang, China sallyboyd... kirjotetaan kysymys "are you like finnish sukkahousu". En kyl oikeen ymmartany mita tolla yritettiin kysyy... Tallaisissa merkeissa meni loppu 6 tuntia matkasta. Ennen kuin poistuin junasta Maomingin asemalle annoin naille Kiinalaisille pulon brandya jonka olin joskus mennyt kiireessa ostamaan. Silloin olin luullut sita viiniksi. Jokatapauksessa se vei rinkassani aivan liikaa tilaa eika se paljon mitaan maksanut. Sainpahan taas joukon pienia Kiinalaisia iloisiksi.
Maoming, Guangdong, China whynot86... nousin sangysta ilman suurempia vaikeuksia. Outoa. Syy tahan miksi heraan nain epainhimilliseen aikaan oli etta oli pakko paasta juoksemaan. Paivalla on liian kuuma siihen hommaan. Olin meinaan nahnyt yhden tapauksen bussin ikunan lapi jossa ...
Haikou, Hainan, China whynot86... many people from different countries to go to Hainan. I hope to bring new customers i contact with the company. I will also give practical advices about going around among scenic spots and cultural places worth seeing, likeThe End of the world. These will be stories about how a person from Sweden with pleasure and in a safe way can travel around Hainan without any guide and without the original language, among Chinese people who don't speak English.
Haikou, China bertil... We then took another bus back to Silver Beach. It was quite a different scene, with hardly anybody on the beach apart from the pearl-sellers. The weekend was over and the weather had turned chilly, with a cold north wind blowing. We found out later that it was no better in Hong Kong, which had recorded that day as the coldest in 43 years. We were pleased to get out of the cold into the Beach Hotel's restaurant. We had planned to order ...
Bei Hei, Guangxi, China raymondc... with no idea of the cost. Given the number of diners we didn't think it would be too exorbitant. The dishes were acceptable but nothing out of the ordinary, so we were quite happy to find that the cost was not much more than in the little street restaurants. To our surprise, when the bill came, the waiter placed a little pot of bamboo on our table. When we asked what this was about, he just answered "Mai tan (Bill)," in a tone suggesting that it's perfectly normal ...
