... Gansu province was the town of Zhangye, an ancient Silk Road town where Marco Polo supposedly spent a year living (and also where, again supposedly, Kublai Khan was born). The town itself is famous for having the largest reclining Buddha in all of China, but it is the surrounding mountains which draw the majority of travellers.

... I must admire my mother not only can she take the pace but the woman, when she does sleep, can sleep through bloody anything. Not only did she sleep in the afternoon through them rebuilding the hotel around us but slept through a staff member walking around with her radio after 10pm. I on the other hand can hear a mouse **** in Mabletherpe ;-(
