... to stop and get my boots off and flip flops on before continuing onto Valenca for the night.

The place was gorgeous. An old stone house, beautiful courtyard, vineyard, etc. I ordered a sandwich, and was enjoying the perfect day.

A very friendly Canadian woman came down the stairs from another building, and was very friendly. Came to find out this was her place. The real story is that she did the Camino in 2008 with a childhood friend she hadn't seen for years. ...

... Then IT began. The "HILL" (aka mountain to us Midwestern folk). Hill - really??

In the beginning, every time the arrow pointed up again, I said, "really"?? Then, you'd turn another corner, thinking it was over, and then there it was - another arrow straight up. Better yet, the trail ended and now it was just large rocks and boulders with yellow arrows painted on them, pointing up.

... great that the entire town (and tourists) were so excited. There is a fest here tonight - various bands, etc - plan to go early and get to bed for a 6am departure. Tomorrow is the biggest ascent, and it will be a rough one for sure (all of the pilgrims were talking about it). It's only about 12 miles tomorrow, but a straight up 1300 foot ascent in the middle. Going to get rid of more stuff from pack tonight! Start (& end): Ponte de Lima, Portugal 8.64 miles 20375 steps Blisters ...

... someone usually picks it up, which is fun. This town is so pretty, I'm going to take another day to explore tomorrow, then continue the Camino the following day. P.s. For some reason, the "bubba" post did not have all pix first time it was published. Should have them now. Stats: Start: Tamal, Portugal End: Ponte de Lima, Portugal 20.38 miles 48076 steps Blisters - 0!!! (Need to buy stock in moleskin!) Bubba lost more items - getting smaller each ...

... to explore the Ria further and went to the very top and anchored in Ensenada de San Simon. Very pretty. While searching for a place to anchor we saw around 6 dolphins mooching about - that was real cool.

The following morning we headed for Baiona.

The old town of Baiona is very nice, small but nice. The views of the Ria and the Atlantic are magical as you stroll on the outside of the castle walls.

Great bars and restaurants.
