If a Tree Falls in the Forest.......
Bay City State Recreation Area – Bay City, MI
It was another short drive even though we took the more scenic route for awhile. We decided to drive through the small Bavarian-style village of Frankenmuth and see if it looked like a place we'd like to explore further. Yep, we have go back; it’s only about 20 miles from Bay City.
The Bay City State Recreation Area (SRA) is directly north of the city on the Saginaw Bay. ...
'All is Healing Well'
Well, the doctor said that my neck has been healing well. He recommended I slowly wean myself off of the brace I'm wearing now. So I'll probably still be wearing it to bed, for car rides and for the plane trip. Soon thereafter, though, I will be all healed and ready to go! Thanks to everyone for the prayers of healing, it has certainly helped. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Zehnder's Splash Village Hotel & Waterpark Frankenmuth
Great Time
Love Frankenmuth & Zehnders is one of our popular places to stay - however it is beginning to show its age & they realize it too and are tearing down & rebuilding. However our stay was still great & the staff too was great. Only thing is - we've learned to enjoy continental breakfasts at the motels & Zehnders doesn't have it - perhaps they will when they rebuild.
Seemed like a nostalgic step back in time
I was hesitant about going to the town where Christmas and Bavaria met, but we booked the hotel the day before we left and it was FANTASTIC.
It reminded me of the hotels when we travelled as children. It had a nice pool inside (and out!) and the room was a good room with a king-sized bed (that was just a little too hard). The room was spacious, the bathroom was very modern and clean. The hotel was quaint.
The breakfast in the little coffee shop was very good too. At night, my wife and I drove over to the Bronner's store and took pictures of all the displays. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. We had a great time at this hotel and we will be going back.
Great Time!
My family (husband and two kids) just spent a great weekend 5/22/2004 in the "Pool Buidling" at Zehnders Bavarian Haus Hotel! We had a ground floor room with a view of Bronners Christmas lights! Our two kids loved the indoor pool with fountains which was just down the corridor from our room! The room was large and neat and the staff was great. We had breakfast in a their quaint coffee shop and enjoyed Dinner at Zehnders Restaurant. The staff at the hotel were great! Very friendly and great service! I would highly reccomend this hotel for dollar value, cleanliness and staff! The management should be proud!
A Great Family Getaway
I would highly recomend this hotel when staying in Frankenmuth. The staff is always very courteous and helpful. The coffee shop serves excellent food at a great price. My family and I will be returning in June for our fourth consecutive year. We always get the Eat and Sleep package which is an excellent deal. For the price the hotel is wonderful. Very clean rooms and the pools and jacuzzis are quite inviting. I am sure my family will continue to stay there for years to come.
Great Price, Staff, and accommodations
Zehnders is a great place to stay! The pools are excellent, food is good, and staff very courteous. We stay several times a year and get the internet rate each time (usually $59.00) Our last stay, the pool had a problem and they gave us a coupon for a free night's stay. You can't beat that!! The rooms are clean, sufficiently stocked, and easily accessible. I wouldn't pay the price for the other hotels in the area - they aren't any better, just more expensive. You need to give it a try to be able to appreciate.
Great getaway!
We had a great Family Weekend at Zehnders Bavarian Haus in Frankenmuth!
Our two kids enjoyed the beautiful Natatorium with its beautiful live green plants, fountains and bubbling jacuzzi! They even had a dry sauna, which my husband refused to leave!!! The rooms are all very close to the Pool area and there is a small video game room! We took the free shuttle service to and from Zehnders restaurant which is only 1/2 mile away. At night you could see Bronners Christmas lights out of our window! The kids loved that! Everyone was nice and we found it a great value! There is even a small coffee shop in the Main lobby that serves the best Belgian Waffles I have ever had! This was our second trip to Zehnders Bavarian Haus. We had gone this past summer and stayed in the Main building near the beautiful outdoor pool and sauna! The kids loved the outdoor pool and the gorgeus courtyard with the fountains and goldfish. Zehnders Bavarian Haus is a great family get away for a great price! The service is great and there is a friendly relaxed atmosphere!
A weekend getaway?
Me and my hubby went during the winter fest for a weekend getaway. the rooms were older the heat in our room did not work very well for a 129.00 a night you would think you could have heat, I guess not. do not eat a the cafe after waiting an hour and a half we got cold eggs and toast. we both got sick.
Zehnders - needs a facelift
Zehnders used to be our favorite place to stay in Frankenmuth with their beautiful grounds but their rates are getting on the high side for what you get. We really like the suites, it seems as though those are kept more up-to-date than the regular rooms. The down side is if you don't go during the week you can forget about using the pool unless you don't mind all the rugrats occupying it.
Good rate, but quality could be better
This motel offers a very good rate through AAA. However the room you get for that low rate is somewhat disappointing. The motel does have some nicer rooms, but we got the ground floor view of the parking lot.
The room was clean but old and shabby, worn carpet, tired furnishings, kind of drab and gloomy. Indoor pool was nice, my 6 yr old son loved it, along with the adjacent gameroom. Bronner's Christmas store is nearby but nothing else is; you have to drive to get to the other shopping areas. The motel coffee shop serves a great breakfast, open only from 7-11 am. You can get room service delivery from their downtown restaurant, which I wish we had done, maybe next time, but otherwise you have to drive into town to look for a place to eat dinner. Bottom line, if you're on a tight budget you probably won't mind the shortcomings; if you like a little more luxury, spend more and stay elsewhere.
Rate was great but I wouldn't stay again
We stayed here December 2002 for 1 night and it was a large room, very clean and basic but it suited our needs. The heater though had one temperature - on!! We took turns turning it off and on throughout the night. It also blew air into the drapes - it was good hotel for what we paid but when we go back this year - we'll be somewhere else!
