          On Our Way to Jaz

A travel blog entry by gregor28 on Sep 17, 2015

          After a night at
Ovčar banja, we visited the cave Kaluđerica, passed through Požega
and heated to the ethno village “Terzića Avlija”. Our very
friendly hosts greeted us. The colorful old village, turned into a
museum and accommodation, had preserved old items in the open air,
not behind the glass in the halls of a typical museum. I really
enjoyed walking between these tiny houses with ...

Our second wild camp went without any problems. It is still raining this morning! We set off on our long drive to Serbia. It's motorway most of the way, straight, flat and wet. At our coffee stop we set up the net book to use the navigation system, as satnav cannot find the place we are heading for. We decide to call this navigation system Doris, unlike satnav, who we are sure is German, as she shouts commands at us, Doris seems to gently guide us along the route. After lunch we ...

After a skype call with Philip, mum, Lilly and Claire this morning I was picked up by Peter around 9am. Straight out to the parents to see the pig taken off the spit. This had been cooking since 4am. I had to have a photo taken with Rad's dad and the pig before it was taken off the spit rod. All the family were there again to share the pig with us. My being there gave them the excuse to have a party. Again it was just simple food. The pig, cabbage and ...

Rad and Peter were here about 8am to pick us up, so we could go out for breakfast. Burek's were on the menu. These are filo pastry filled with cheese or cheese and lamb and when cooked puff up to dinner plate size and four only cost us $5.50 AUD. They were tasty but too much for breakfast. Then Rad and I had a look around a couple of little boutiques in town. Made a couple of purchases. A nice top and pants and a ...

How spoilt we are in Australia. To come here and drive through just a tiny part of Bosnia to Derventa and see the devastation after all these years and then to arrive at Rad 's parents, its very humbling. We have so much and they make do with so little. They have a lovely home, very small, two small bedrooms off a living area. The have a stove inside but mum does most of the cooking in summer outside in the shed, where she has another stove. They have little ...
