Today we are docked in Breisach in the south west of Germany and the sun is shining in blue skies, hooray! But it is only 2 degrees with no wind. We are leaving at 12:15 for an excursion through the Black Forest, so no lunch. However they won't let us starve so there was breakfast available until 9:00 and then brunch available from 9:30 until 11:30. So a light breakfast before I headed out to walk around the typical German town of Breisach. The town of just over 14,000 ...

The changeable spring weather saw periods of dark clouds and rain which only added to the beauty and atmosphere of the forest. Once in Triberg we walked to the famous waterfall and did as many trails as were accessible. Lovely dinner of venison and weisswein in a local ...

Beate and Michael spoiled us with their kindness and we enjoyed homemade meals including raclette which included melted cheese over a variety of items! After dinner one night Michael brought out the family tree he had assembled along with lots of old photos and documents. It was so cool to see history so far back. How are we related? Well two sisters married ...

... the Rhein river flowing past us. We got to the top of the stairs and while our tickets to the falls and museum were bought we had a mini small ball fight which resulted in my hair being covered in snow. But I didn’t mind.

We then went into the museum and walked around it for nearly an hour I would think. It was pretty interesting even just looking at the different things rather than reading because I’m assuming it was all ...

    Let's go hiking! - Day 1 Querweg

... shape of my life, carrying around too much weight, hiking in running shoes up and down mountains 10 times as high as those "mountains" in Hamburg.

So after I climbed up another 2 km to the top of the Piketfelsen, I found myself a nice bench with great view up to the Feldberg and had "dinner", I just decided to stay here for the night, relaxed a little and enjoyed the beauty and peace of nature!
