Unfortunately we encountered roadworks and convoys and our journey lengthened to 3 1/2 hours. Something done regularly in Germany is closing of an entire stretch of road so that roadwork can be done. ... short, the damn route got us lost and we ended up doing another massive detour. At rixheim, we eventually turned around to try to find any kind of river to camp on. Rivers are nice. We didnt find the rhine, but ended up staying on the banks of a kittle canal which was super pretty and a fair distance from any dodgy dog walkers!

We wolfed down our food in 5 minutes flat, I can't say if it was any good, and as it was soon to get dark, started actively hunting for a place to pitch the tent. After another 10km or so, we found ourselves in rheinfelden, literally on the banks of the rhine. Cant complain, the spot was pretty.
