A travel blog entry by tourtaidnanny on Dec 26, 2014

Who could have guessed it was Boxing Day? Everything was as busy as normal. In fact busier. We moved to an airport hotel ready for an early start tomorrow and then set off to explore Dubai old town around The Creek. But it was Friday and the people praying in the mosques were spilling out into the streets. They kept what turned out to be a 2 hour slow crawl through ...

... where they do Bagels and Burgers. I really wanted quiche but anyway as Bruce wanted a burger and no one in the area seemed to have quiche anyway, I had a burger.... You go in to place the order and suddenly it is really confusing.... The burgers are INSIDE bagels!!! Somehow we got caught up in a meal deal but I didn't realise what was happening as questions were hitting me hard and fast. Topping on bagel?? Fries or salad, type of ...

... They smile at me anyway. Or it could be a grimace.

So you can't eat. Anything. All day. Or drink--even sips of water. And it is 110 degrees. So we are thinking about how that's going to work out. BUT at about 7:00 when the sun goes down, there are these great Iftars (feasts) buffets to break the fast. One thing that was really beautiful was hearing the call to prayer from our hotel. It is an awe-inspiring sound. Which is good because ...
