... but unfortunately they told us in broken English they didn't go to our hotel. I didn't bother asking why not... Travelling with our bags was not good - especially on the first train. It is a 30min train uphill. It's Japan's only mountain railway - switching back and forth on tracks like a zigzag. Gora is at the end of the track. It is lovely little town (just a few shops) on the side of the mountain that reminded us of a chalet. After having ...

... to the cloudy weather the view from the top wasn't so special, but just walking along the rim of a vulcano is something well worth the trip. In the crater itself you could shoot bow & arrows, though due to the strong winds no one seemed to be tempted to try.

Here the hot springs, erupting geysers and bubbling pools of boiling mud dominate a fascinating landscape. We take the Hakone rope way from Sounzan down to Togendai on lake Ashinoko. We take a boat journey around the lake which is a water filled volcanic crater with a circumference of 18K. We are now making our way to Tokyo by ...

After two beautiful days of weather today was horrible. It rained a lot but worst of all it was foggy which was less than ideal for what we had planned for the day. We were booked onto a day trip to visit Mount Fuji and Hakone National Park. Our first stop was Mount Fuji. The plan was to drive to the 5th station, however the weather prevented this with the road up closed due to snow. We were only able to get as far as the 1st station where we could see pretty ...
