... racket when the hundreds of them travel in packs at Carnival. Kurentovanje is considered one of the world’s most unique Carnival celebrations and one I’d like to take in sometime if I’m in Europe around that time of year, perhaps before or after that European ski trip I’ve had on my mind for many years. So maybe I’ll be back in Ptuj someday!

We were at the Skocjan Caves in time for the 10.00 am tour. It's a huge cave system. The first part of the walk was through a dry cavern - massive with impressively large stalactites and stalacmites. In parts it 100 metres high. The second part of the cave has water rushing through it although the water level is quite low at the moment. Once we were out of the caves it took us about 30 minutes to walk back to where Tilly was parked. We walked past ...

... salamanders, Waitomo has glow worms therefore both equally famous in their own right! Next stop was Lake Bled via the A1 and a lot of traffic going very fast! My nerves took a battering but we got there safely to what is possibly the most beautiful place in Europe. It was well worth the terror and time in the car, we just wish we had longer. The pictures say it all. Back to Zagreb to catch our flight to Dubrovnik and our much needed rest and cruise around the Croatian ...
