... glistening water, with the pastel pink color of its 600-year old Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary elegantly glowing against the backdrop of strikingly green forest-covered mountains. Enough of the poetry, you get the idea. Absolutely 110% spec-tac-u-lar and highly recommend.

Finally, there was a fast food place called 'horse hot' and they sold horse. Horse burgers, horse wrap, horse salad. Anything horse you wanted you could get it. Delicious? Of horse!

... along the Soca Valley - this is so clear - mental note to return next year and camp

We pay our 5 Eur and set off, talk about butterflies, hope we do not meet anything coming the other way and pray we get the right exit at the end of the tunnel otherwise it will not take long to get to the bottom

Day two in Opatija we decided to explore the Istrian coastline. We found our way onto the main highway to find that it was an impressive system with numerous viaduct bridges across massive gullies and tunnels through what is a fairly mountainous part of the country. The longest tunnel was 5.5kms long which makes the Waiwera and Victoria Viaduct tunnels look like a child's play-set. ... snow and rain. That is where my adventure ended. I sadly walked away. I was so close. Finding my way to the bus terminal was an adventure in itself but I will leave it at that.
