... were vast and the scale and formations were impressive. Not a glow worm in sight, but glow worms of different kinds.........chandeliers! Yep, no kidding. Also as part of our visit we saw a butterfly collection comprising over 7000 species and a smaller cave with "cave animals" who generally speaking are blind and opaque looking.....the result of a life in darkness. After the orientation walk some of us headed out to Vintgar Gorge, which is about 3.5km from Bled, through lovely open Alpine countryside, dotted with lovely traditional chalets complete with balconies.

For my last siteseeing day in Slovenia, I did the Karst and Coast Mystery daytrip by Roundabout tour operators. My inspiration to visit Slovenia was its large karst landscape with thousands of caves. In fact, the word karst comes from this region.
