... to, pull the door shut behind me, me and mine surrounding me, and it is safe. I guess we can whittle down the feeling to a few factors, and down to one need for the time being. I'd like to have that feeling of pulling the door shut behind me, and feeling safe in my little corner.
But the feeling has many causes, and many factors which make me feel that I need to somehow get over this if I want to continue this journey in good spirits and become a traveller.
1.I've set ...
Miass, Tsjeljabinsk, Russia gabador... get the general idea. They also had the idea of putting speed humps in the middle of nowhere with no warning. We fell victim to one or two, the car is still ok.

I think its fair to say we got some culture shock when we arrived in L'viv. The roads hadnt been repaired for 100 years seemingly, and the hostel we were staying in was good! The only issue was with the safe parking of the car. the road outside the hostel had been ripped up a year ago by a contractor ...

Chelyabinsk, Russia hello-ulli... don't know if anyone picks up hitchhikers in this wild country. Would you? 7. You're crazy. But, there are some good points. 1. A main road connects Siberia to European Russia, so the possibility of getting a long ride is great. 2. Although everyone complains about the roads, they're well-engineered to avoid all cities, so you just keep hitchhiking. This also means you're always in a good place to camp. 3. While I don't have sands with ...
Lake Trugoyak, Chelyabinskaya Oblast, Russia modernoddyseus... he's Oksana's brother, Ilya, come to take me to Oksana's apartment! Oksana lives in the centre of Yekaterinburg, in a gorgeously decorated flat (lots of hand decorated bits and bobs that she's done, and some amazing photography) with a finger-nibbling frog. She took out for a walk to show me some parts of Ekaterinburg - we saw lots of statues, she pointed out some pretty architecture, and some nasty soviet architecture, the order of Lenin ...
Ekaterinburg, Russia horizonbound... Russian Orthodox Church of Blood. Eventually we headed back to the hotel and finally picked up our train tickets from the elusive Guide Centre. We decided to have a look at the Military History Museum which was interesting but all the captions were in Russian so we had to make up our own stories to match the relics. They also had bits of Gary Power's American U2 spy plane shot down back in the 1962 at the height of the Cold War. It was interesting to see the Russian ...
Yekaterinberg, Russia eatdessertfirst... some bread, he staggered out the door, acting like a crazy drunk Russian guy. I'm sure you can picture what we mean. Into the evening, just as we were about to tuck into the travelers staple, cup-o-noodles, there was a knock on our door. In came the paralytic Alexander and his six Army Coast Guard buddies. One of them, Victor, could speak a little bit of English so we found out they were on their way to Moscow, then onto the Black Sea for a training course. He then gave Rick a ...
Yekaterinberg, Russia eatdessertfirst... horror of horrors, he appeared again, and set next to me, and made us eat fish with him. He then tried to get me to sleep in his cabin again. I politely declined, bolted the cabin door behind him, and slept very fitfully. Upon arriving in Volgograd, I saw the Stalingrad memorial complex - a most impressive site - and then grabbed a flight back to Moscow.
