... river deltas, with huge bridges providing crossings for the river and tunnels bored through the mountains. And peppered along many hills and across reclaimed flatter lands we could count hundreds of wind turbines, putting paid to the myth that China doesn't invest in renewables. Quite the opposite in fact. Now we are descending into Hong Kong and time I have there is curtailed. My plan was to a little extra shopping but I may not have much time. We shall ...

At least we could see it clearly if it wasn't for the mist (or smog) that hangs over Hong Kong, the low lying cloud hiding the tops of the tallest buildings. ... we were foreigners...however, I also found the same in Hong Kong. 3) Chinese grannies don't seem to hesitate to give a bratty child a whack when required. While lined up to enter Tianemen Square, I saw one give a misbehaving child a smack and the kid didn't act up again! 4) I was very happy that we did the style of tour we did. We were able to choose our itinerary, eat in legitimate restaurants. We were often the only tourists at lunch. Our guides were able to ...

... remembers it being in 1985. It is also much more "commercialized" than it used to be. After a short rest (must be getting old) we managed to get a little bit of shopping done. Tomorrow afternoon we board the Seabourn Legend (our cruise ship and home for the next 50 days) so this might be our last post for quite some time depending on the ship's internet ...
