WE DID: - got a bus from Tsuruoka to the summit of Mount Haguro, the first of the 3 mountains that make up Dewa-sanzan it symbolises (re)birth - managed to find our lodgings, a temple on the top of the mountain, and leave our rucksacks - trekked down the 2446 steps to the bottom of the mountain ready to go back to the top again later! - visited the Ideha museum to learn a bit more about Dewa-sanzan and its religious ...

... It tasted weird. When i got miso soup, I drank it, and started to dig around to see if there was anything else in there, and a shrimp eye stared at me. I got a little freaked out and calmly put down the bowl and ate something else.
I was then dressed in a kimono and my hair was done. I then did a "photo shoot" and posed in front of flowers. After, I gave the family my gifts and the mom helped me pack. My bag is full. Nothing else will fit.

Once we arrived, we took off our shoes and went to the auditorium. The kindergarteners danced for us and sang/chanted.

... geishas danced and they were so In synch. I couldn't believe it.
After we got a picture with them and I swear they looked like paper girls in a paper town. They didn't blink and I only knew they were human by their breathing. After, we looked around in the old restaurant and then went to the gift shop. I bought these really yummy candies and a washcloth to dry my hands. They don't provide towels in the bathroom so I have to use that.
