Taichung is the next major city after Taipei on Taiwan's western coast. Taichung used to be famous for Taiwan's old manufacturing industry, if you had a toy with 'Made in Taiwan' printed on it as a child, it most likely came from Taichung. Now however, the city is going through somewhat of a revamp as it modernizes, meaning that new steel apartment building are rising up and cool coffee cafés and bars are opening in the newly renovated areas.
