Sun Moon Lake- very pretty, you appreciate the nature in Taiwan. Day 4 we headed off down to Nantou to Sun Moon Lake - a long bus ride, but at least the kids had a chance to rest for a while. We went across to the temple on a boat, then another 30 min or so on narrow, winding roads and we got to Xitou Park, a nature education area where we stayed for the last 2 nights.

The first stop is a rural village of Dong He. Old Taiwanese traditions are rich in this small town. Besides the students who mostly where in elementary school, a group of teenager youths and young adults also provided us hospitality, assistance, and a few unexpected adventures. ... ice cream store which is a converted eye hospital from the pre WWII Japanese era was only 2 blocks from the bus station. It is also a very upscale Japanese style gift shop. The ice cream was great.
We bought fried dumplings and a combination dinner with grilled chicken, a fried egg, vegetables and rice for our late evening train ride to Hualien.

aÀ Taïwan, on fait une nette distinction entre Taïwanais et Chinois. Les Taïwanais sont les indigènes de l'île.
