... chewing with your mouth open, slurping your noodles because they are too hot and spitting in public is revolting. Rant over! Actually, as I am led here writing I am surrounded by snorers and despite my ear plugs being tightly jammed in, the bellows still get through to my ear drums. Coughing does not work and nor does knocking their beds. I can't bring myself to hit them at fear of retaliation in Chinese. I guess I am in for the long haul and i'm moody.

So I had to find a place to hang out for the National Day holiday, October 1-7. Side note on Chinese holidays, if they get holiday days everybody has to make up the days off on the following weekends, so they don't seem to get any days off.

We had a surprisingly good nights sleep considering the location, woken only a few times by people getting on and a conductor shining a light in Jen's face! Around 9am we arrived into Hohhot and walked directly to our hotel, where we were pleased to be given a room straight away.

... do you think the family uses to build their fires? I will give you a clue… they have a lot of cows! We had to search the grassland for dried up cow pies, which we collected using our bare hands! Yuk!! Cow manure does, however, burn well. The family uses it to heat their house and to cook their food, which was delicious!
