We arrived at Linz after sailing all night. Following an early breakfast we were loaded on a replica of the Majestic Imperator, the train used by the luxury Imperial Hapsberg family, for transport to Salzburg at the base of the Austrian alps. The train was very lavish as you would expect for the King and his family. The 2 hour trip took us through some very pretty country. Some interesting information from our guide - Linz has a population of ...

... for Salzburg was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Salzburg is a beautiful city, & the home of The Sound of Music, and also the birthplace of Mozart. After the official tour we wandered the streets and alleys, for several hours, then headed back to the station where we saw a group of Syrian refugees, including a mother and baby, in police custody - very confronting.

... The bells were ringing calling the parishioners to church. We then turned around, cycled passed the boat and boarded the first little ferry to cross the river and join Rad 1, the cycle path along the Danube. Our first stop was at a farm where we had chocolate and poppy seed cake, washed down with apple juice as the farm didn't have a licence to sell coffee. Whilst at the farm we saw our ship, M S Normandia sail by. We had ...

Gabi and Friedrich drove us to Linz today, 20km, it took about 30 minutes. We took Nelly with us and left her in Linz at Katherina and Hubert's house. Katherina was in Göppingen for the weekend for Gabi's mother's 80th celebration with the grandchildren. We parked in Urfahraner Markt and walked along and over the Danube River into the Alt Stadt. We walked to Leberkas Pepi and ate baked leberkäs on a roll, a speciality of ...
