Ooty is a long way from Munnar! I think it took us about 8 hours in total, though we did stop for a nice lunch at a roadside cafe, and at several scenic spots for pics along the way. The veg pakora at the cafe were probably the best I have had. The last hour or two were up very steep winding roads with plenty of hairpin bends snaking up the mountain side. It reminded me a lot of driving up to a ski resort, without the snow, though having been in Asia for 4 ...

... reasoning. My thinking is, "What if everybody did the same thing, in this case, trying to jump to the front of the line? How could it possibly work?" It is just physically impossible for everyone to be served at one time. So there has to be some other basis for serving people. An orderly line seems to solve this problem fairly and reasonably. What can these people be thinking when they think that they should be served before everybody else? ...

The views of the lake from my hotel in Ooty are stunning. This is the first place that I have stayed since I arrived in India that I can honestly say is picturesque. Kodaikanal, the hill station I spent two days in prior to my arrival in Ooty, was more like a chaotic dusty Indian town transposed on to the top of a mountain.
