... of the rolling hills for as far as the eye could see were tea bushes- quite a sight- and again strange to think our great grandfather managed a similar place in these very hills.
After a lunch cooked by a local tribe, we boarded the bus back to Ooty- to rest and to start planning our next chapter in Allepey.
I thought I'd never be saying this after Agra three days ago, but we're looking forward to some heat ...

... the guesthouse which was a little haven from the rain descending above us. When the room contained no fan (a first for an Indian room) and only blankets and duvets, we wondered what the village had in store for us. We napped in the room before waking to watch 'Lost Boys: The Thirst' on our TV. We wouldn't recommend. So we left the room in search of comfort food; an Indian thali. ... more than a little old man sitting at a little old pump-action sewing machine. Ten cents US is all it takes to get the repair done - and I probably overpaid.

I found new place to read in peace: The Arboretum., a very nice small park that is a bit out of the way and therefore rarely visited. Reading outside is one of the things I came here to do - along with walking outside - both of which are essentially impossible to do in Bangkok ...

We had fun hanging out in our new abode, my children making dens in the bedroom, and trying to discover something about our invisible host on the internet. Daniels last name is Taghioff and it seems he does environmental work in the jungles here with the tribal peoples. He has Osho books too, so I've been perusing one, in which there was this interesting quote that I rather liked:

... our coming here to him was the will of God.
The house was small but homely, and after wrappng us in blankets and putting socks on oput feet, as it is much colder here than in the plains, Shankar set to work in the kitchen cooking us some rice and dhal. This he served to us with poppadums and cucumber and then went off leaving us to our own devices. He said he had left us a breakfast of cakes and would be back tomorrow to cook us our lunch.
