Youngstown-Days Inn Girard/Airport/North

Another yummy breakfast this morning before hitting the road out of Chicago. Will be traveling through 3 States today: Illinois, Indiana & Ohio. Have spent a small fortune on tolls going the route we are, but it's the most direct way to drive.

We got up to a chilly July morning it was in the low 50's some 20 degrees below normal. A cold front had gone through in the evening. The country was still beautiful but the back roads left a lot to be desired. They were so bad in some areas that they were actually bordering on dangerous. ... for lunch at Sara’s Diner. The food isn’t anything special, but the atmosphere is cool. It’s like going back to the 70’s. Actually, it looks like the place has been there since the 70’s and nothing has been changed, right down to the music they play.

... today. I’ve been wanting to go for some years now since I read about it. It was worth the $22 admission and $7 parking. It has everything you can imagine to do with rock, from the invention of the first record in the 1880’s to the death of Michael Jackson. There are guitars, amps, clothes, cars, motorcycles, etc. that were owned by various entertainers.

What a crazy place I picked to stay for the next 3 days! I really wasn't expecting to find it in the first place because there are no signs along the road anywhere. The first sign was right by the driveway. This place is mostly an open field with hundreds of campers and tents with at least 3-4 kids per unit ...

I had a wonderful time with all my old friends from Hiram. The college looks amazing with so many new buildings and renvations! I really missed everyone and it was great to see them. Gabi & Bri spent one last lazy day at home before we hit the road at the crack of dawn tomorrow.

Well after watching all the TV footage of the IKE we are ready and raring to go! Heehee. No seriously it looks like we may hit some rain as it is now passing through northeast but hopefully nothing much. Looking forward to the trip. Don't know how our internet access will be for the first couple days....we'll have to see, but we will check in when we can. Doug will probably have some pictures to post! We will miss everyone!
