Another yummy breakfast this morning before hitting the road out of Chicago. Will be traveling through 3 States today: Illinois, Indiana & Ohio. Have spent a small fortune on tolls going the route we are, but it's the most direct way to drive.
For lunch (a late lunch as there was another time change!) we stopped at our first Cracker Barrel restaurant (our families very favourite over ...
Made it through Pennsylvania by dinnertime...staying in Youngstown, Ohio ad doing Math with Mara, bathtime with girlies...off to Indianapolis tomorrow. We'll stay there with my friend Laura. Song of the Day...Lovegame..you should see Dessa dance to this one. A total crackup.
... that dish as a child, and now realize she was handed down the recipe from her grandmother who grew up in the Amish area in Pennsylvania.
On the way home from we meandered back through Ashtabula County, visiting the Harpersfield covered bridge and stopping by the Harpersfield Vineyards and South River Winery for tastings. The South River Winery is a newer winery, situated in an old Methodist Episcopal Church from 1892, moved from ...
We got up to a chilly July morning it was in the low 50's some 20 degrees below normal. A cold front had gone through in the evening. The country was still beautiful but the back roads left a lot to be desired. They were so bad in some areas that they were actually bordering on dangerous. Still the ride was great, rolling hills the aromas of the farm country (manure) fresh cut fields and the forming clouds in the late ...
Youngstown, Ohio, United States bot989... for lunch at Sara’s Diner. The food isn’t anything special, but the atmosphere is cool. It’s like going back to the 70’s. Actually, it looks like the place has been there since the 70’s and nothing has been changed, right down to the music they play.
Berlin Center, Ohio, United States wcarver... today. I’ve been wanting to go for some years now since I read about it. It was worth the $22 admission and $7 parking. It has everything you can imagine to do with rock, from the invention of the first record in the 1880’s to the death of Michael Jackson. There are guitars, amps, clothes, cars, motorcycles, etc. that were owned by various entertainers.
Berlin Center, Ohio, United States wcarverWhat a crazy place I picked to stay for the next 3 days! I really wasn't expecting to find it in the first place because there are no signs along the road anywhere. The first sign was right by the driveway. This place is mostly an open field with hundreds of campers and tents with at least 3-4 kids per unit ...
Berlin Center, Ohio, United States wcarverI had a wonderful time with all my old friends from Hiram. The college looks amazing with so many new buildings and renvations! I really missed everyone and it was great to see them. Gabi & Bri spent one last lazy day at home before we hit the road at the crack of dawn tomorrow.

Well after watching all the TV footage of the IKE we are ready and raring to go! Heehee. No seriously it looks like we may hit some rain as it is now passing through northeast but hopefully nothing much. Looking forward to the trip. Don't know how our internet access will be for the first couple days....we'll have to see, but we will check in when we can. Doug will probably have some pictures to post! We will miss everyone! See you soon...ish.... :) D&D
Hermitage,, Pennsylvania, United States the2bubbas... which was awesome. Sure enough, when we got there, we found a ton of other stuff we thought we "needed", like a memory foam pillow top mattress cover, a badass folding grill for tailgating, a giant outdoor mat for the ground under the awning, and various other doodads. So later we pulled over, cranked up the generator and the heaters, popped out the slide, opened up the satellite dish, then ...
