... a trip to Miyagi prefecture to visit the Zao fox village. This place became famous up on the internet a couple of months ago, with "news" websites going on and on about how cute it was, even though it was established years ago. We were a bit dubious about going, having read mixed reviews. For a start, it definitely wasn't a village, it was a fox zoo, and it stank of urine. The first bit I didn't love: you could pay to hold the fox cubs and there ...

For about 3 hours we viewed historical documents, Samurai armor and weapons, old photos, pottery and ceramics, Buddhas, and old weaving among other things.

I`m not sure any other market I have been to or will go to will compare with Tsukiji it really was one of a ...

After the Ramen Fiasco we went to take a look at Tokyo Skytree, a newly built communications tower and tourist attraction. It's basically just a weirdly-shaped building.

That was it for the day, we're off to visit Mt. Fuji in the morning! Cormac's getting excited because he can sense that mountains are nearby. Boy loves his mountains.

... they were using to peel back a pre-cut flap of skin on the tuna where its tail used to be or to pound the tuna. Presumably, to test the quality of the tuna. While I couldn't understand what the auctioneers were yelling, an auction looks the same in any language. The smaller tuna seemed to sell under the hammer. The larger tuna (130kg) would have presumably sold after our 20 minute visit to the auction area was over and the second group was there, as ...
