I'm sat in the theatre, peering cautiously through a fierce haze of hot sparks currently pattering down from the ceiling and, by pattering, I more mean flying uncontrollably in all directions. Ignoring the obvious downside of rehearsing directly next to a six metre-high shower of hot metal flakes, I am filled with tremendous hope. Bargain! A 5 minute walk to the S-Bahn (metro station) and a 15 minute ride into Hamburg. We can see the stadium of HSV football club who play at the wonderful Volkspark Stadium. Recently updated as part of the World Cup a few years back it is surrounded ...

Yes, it's me again but I am ghost blogging (is there such a term?) from lovely Galiano Island for Jim, who is almost two weeks into another European cycle trip. He's back to Deutschland with pal Werner, who was born there and knows his flammkuchen from his zwiebelkuchen. It will be an opera in two parts: they are currently on the Elbe Cycle Route or Elberadweg, biking south from Hamburg to Dresden on the Elbe Cycle Route, then from Wurtsburg to ...
