    ... beers together. And John Williams, I swear that your double lives in this village! He even talked and laughed like you! They were asking about our family, and so I showed them the photo of our family just before Janie and Raj's wedding. They thought all of our girls were gorgeous, but when they realized that Ana was the only single one, one of them was hilarious. "Annnnnaaaa!! Aaannnnnaaa!"

    At night we found our way to our friends’ “Mekong Café”. The food was excellent. Keith had beef bourguignon and I had Dai lemon fish. The Dai are the local tribe in this area and the fish, fresh from the river and cooked with a finely chopped mix of herbs and salad, was spicy and delicious.     ... and a brilliant afternoon quickly followed, hitting as we reached the village of our homestay and sending our guide, Siam ducking!!
    Built in the local Bulang style, the homestay consisted of an upstairs living area with kitchen complete with fire pit, lounge area, family bedroom, and outdoor toilet and shower.
