    But other titles could have been: 'Bananas, mango and coconut grow here' or 'Terraces of sweetcorn, rice and tobacco'. We travelled by bus from Lijiang to here on Tuesday through huge food growing areas, matched only by the enormous number of tobacco plants we saw alongside. As we were travelling through hills and valleys, most growing was on narrow terraces coming down the hillsides.     ... of the guys lit it for him and he inhaled, informing me that it gave him a light-headedness. He passed it to me and I decided to go for it. The same process ensued, and I inhaled the smoke, bringing upon myself a 5 minute light-headedness.     ... pretty hungry and we didn't have Della with us (by the way, Della = food), so we were thinking of turning back when we came across this little cafe in this empty city.     ... forward and then it was onwards towards Luang Namtha!

    So that was China folks. A land of total contrast. We have spent 28 days in China. From the insular Islamic Arabic world in the west., To the totally confident and in many ways arrogant Han Chinese in the centre. To the mild mannered friendly culturally diverse, in the south. A land of total contrasts. The country is massive and we have driven 8000 km's of it.

    ... stopped in a few shops and he showed us the Mekong river and the small ferry that people can use to cross it. We then headed back to the supermarket he worked at to get some lunch (which he insisted on paying for) and went back to his small apartment to eat it.
