... to be a performance around 3pm--just some traditional dancing by minority people. I figured we could use the break and simultaneously see beautiful girls dancing, never a bad thing, so we rested for a bit and drank mango juice. 3pm rolled around and indeed some minority men and women came out dancing to random songs, some clearly bored with their job. It wasn't anything I hadn't seen previously, but I guess Alexi didn't before. Once it was finished, we were told there would be a ...

... bus. Obviously, Honghe was still not an "official" destination. After a reasonably respectable count of people were accumulated in the bus through further utterances of the "Honghe" rallying cry, we got rolling. Sure enough, the bus hugged a red colored river through some spectacular mountain scenery with several landslides along the way which had been cleared recently. The road was well paved and looked brand new which explained why this route was not well known. We ...

... br> I want a pair of lightweight canvas slip ons to protect my cracked heels, as it's too warm for my boots during day and walking in flip flops on pavement has created the ailment in the first place. I look everywhere but they just don't do size 10s in China. Sheila is understandably getting bored with my by now obsessive scouring of every shoe merchant in Kunming and tells me that she will eat a Sichuan Hot Pot (very, very hot food - ring of fire material), if I find a pair ...
