    ... Beverley from the Sunshine Coast and Rob and Beverly (yes another one) from Ryde in Sydney. It turned out the two Beverleys had relations in common in Rockhampton – unknown to both of them !! So – old home week !!

    Daniel Mallari made a return to the stage tonight and was well received again. Very enjoyable performance.

    Tired from our shore travels today so just back to the cabin after the show for a movie / ...

    ... really nice, on the Pearl River estuary. Well, getting there wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. After a mean bus driver letting another guy at the bus stop on and then driving off before I could get on, I headed back to Yongding for more regular buses. They didn't have any buses until late... so I went to another town an hour or so away. Finally I arrived in Xiamen around 4:30.     ... of a hindrance than a help, as many of the roads are not written in, and then some steps up might be drawn in as a road. It took us a long time to realize this, and so it has taken us all three days to get home without getting lost. Luckily, toilets are everywhere, and so getting lost isn't a problem. Locals have set up 'restaurants' in their little courtyards, and so there is always somewhere to eat. Seafood is the speciality here, and so that's what we have eaten. Oyster omelets, ...

    ... actually cross the road, well that was fun!!! We managed to not be run down by pushbikes, motorbikes, cars, taxis, buses and trucks!! And I forgot all the pedestrians that just barge through anyway!

    Had a lazy day today staying around the Hotel Indigo. We walked down Zhongshan Lu and had lunch at Aijsen Ramen, one of our favourite Japanese restaurant chains. We then wandered back to the hotel and had afternoon tea sitting up in the restaurant area overlooking the harbour and Gulangyu Island, unfortunately not warm or nice enough to sit outside.
