My first destination in real China was YongDing to look at the ancient Tulou houses of the Hakka people.
It took my about 8 hours by train to get there, and as I was unfamiliar with the train system, I ended up with a "standing ticket," which is exactly what it sounds like. Standing. 8 hours.
