... am used to being looked at differently when I come to China. I rarely notice it any more. But at times on this trip, it became a bit overwhelming. One such place was Xilin Hot in Inner Mongolia! I could not go more than 5 feet without another group of giggling locals shyly coming up and wanting me in a photo with them! I have had parents push shy kids towards me to practice a ...

I have included yesterday's evening in Xiamen, after returning from the round houses into today's post. This brings me up-to-date and on the eve of my rail trip tonight that starts here in Xiamen and ends in Beijing 33 hours later!

Indeed, after dropping my bags in a Home Inn that does welcome foreigners, I head to the Jimei school area in Xiamen, complete with a mini lake, dragon boats and pagodas for lovers to sit together and enjoy a warm evening.

The high school, university and beautiful grounds were given as a gift to China in this area in 1913 by ...

... to a shopping mall. Overall it was a good day" - Angus

"I had a very different day today. Its not every day you hang out with a Chinese family just being the only Brit. Although I soon began to realise that it wasnt that different. They were the exact same as me just in a Chinese sort of way. So I had a fabulous day, I visited a university, went for a meal, went shopping and even picked up some 'Scottish' rock, ...
