What was once just a stream at the bottom of the gorge, and a bit of land to farm on, is now water 75 to 100 meters deep depending on the lake levels. Afternoon tea followed - tea and a cookie. Very few showed up. Not worth the effort; just not enough food to get excited about!!!! I asked for coffee but got told that wasn't gratis; "what's your room number" (to charge). Went without and had one of my ...

... much needed kip. I started to think a bit about home while I was lying there, not sure why but I guess you do when you have some time to yourself. I haven't really missed it to be honest (apart from my family and friends) but if I ever do I just put on something by The Beatles and it takes me right back there..... I managed to sleep pretty well on and off and felt well rested by the time we made it to Yichang if a little grubby. ...

... dive, we couldn’t wait to get down stream and locate Major and the guide.  We found them both on the side of the river resting and waiting on us at one of the many rest points where local folk would cook and offer glasses of ginger tea for 5 Yuan.  Major was pretty upset when we got there and I noticed that one of his water shoes was missing.  It seems he had taken a spill as well on the first big fall.  The guide gestured that he wasn’t holding ...
