... the waterfront introduced us to the familiar skyline of Hong Kong an the other side of the Victoria harbour. Before we arrived, we had noticed that the weather forecast was cloudy & wet. We guessed that we were being a bit unlucky but later learned from locals that this sort of weather was pretty typical for the time of year. The result was that the clear photos of the skyscrapers from the Star Ferry that we had hoped for didn't materialise, in fact we ...

... more American dollars just so I could pay for my stored bag etc in cash. Next stop was the goldfish market but I got a bit lost when it wasn't as close or organized in the way I expected. A final fling of complete hedonism. Dee's old friend Kitty Wong has given us hospitality beyond any reasonable bounds of generosity starting off in the member's enclosure at the Happy Valley racecourse where the winnings for the evening covered 2/3rds of the cost of the car park- and I thought we had done quite well! It was party time after that...

Today started early, well 9.30am, with the challenge of learning the underground, it makes London seem difficult it's that easy. As I walk to the station breakfast is in order, do I try to go local was an early thought, yes why not. Five minutes later I'm eating Scrambled egg with dried squid and Chinese tea, another new one on me and one I can't see taking off in the UK too well. I set off to Tung Chung on Lantau Island, what seems a brief thirty minute train and I arrive. From here ...
