... lake. I really enjoyed the exercise and magnificent views along the way.

We headed down to a grassy spot in the sun where we had a picnic lunch. One of the girls went to find a natural toilet and came across a small bunker and trench hidden in the mound behind us providing us some excitement.

We then drove to the Paekdusan Secret Camp. This was a secret camp used by Kim Il Sung in the resistance against the Japanese occupation and arguably where Kim ...

... snowmobiles from going to the top. Which for me was the whole point. But I figured that I was there so I might as well try the mid-mountain trails. But after a few "runs" I determined that there is no foreseeable reason for any serious skier to go the to mid-mountain.

    Package Deal

I am pretty sure a deal like that exists no where else. The hotel alone would cost you $600/night at a ski resort in the States.

    So it's clear ...

This October holiday is the first time I'm really traveling alone in China. I mean, I live alone in China, so you’d think I’m pretty used to getting around and taking care of myself. But exploring a city is different when you know you’re always an easy taxi ride away from your own apartment. Also, the city that I live in is relatively foreigner friendly. They are use to a large expat community and many businesses and stores have English signs or ...

    The Main Attraction! Heaven Lake

... corner. The driver just laughed and pressed ********* the gas pedal.

When we arrived at the top parking lot, we were in the first 10 vans to arrive, so I guess the speeding paid off. Already the view was spectacular. The elevation is high enough that there are no trees, only moss and windswept rocks. It was a 5 minute climb up a well-marked path to the top of crater looking down onto the main attraction: Heaven Lake. It was ...
