... lake. I really enjoyed the exercise and magnificent views along the way.

We headed down to a grassy spot in the sun where we had a picnic lunch. One of the girls went to find a natural toilet and came across a small bunker and trench hidden in the mound behind us providing us some excitement.

We then drove to the Paekdusan Secret Camp. This was a secret camp used by Kim Il Sung in the resistance against the Japanese occupation and arguably where Kim ...

... can rent ski gear and book your snowmobile ride to get up the mountain. Everything is charged by the hour. 188 RMB will take you to the mid mountain. Ski rentals is 50 RMB. Then 10 RMB for insurance. So all told it's about 250 RMB. From the info that I was reading, in Chinese albeit, it would cost you 750 RMB to get to the upper mountain.

Now I can't speak to the conditions of the upper mountain because blowing snow and zero visibility ...

... The big mountain skiing is about 50km away.

The Wanda Group spent, in my estimation, hundreds of millions on developing this resort. But as far as amenities go, it's nearly the real deal. It's about as good as you could expect for making a ski resort from scratch in 5 years. The resort mountain leaves lots to be desired, but lets say I am pretty spoiled as far as mountains go. There are several massive hotels, with ...

This October holiday is the first time I'm really traveling alone in China. I mean, I live alone in China, so you’d think I’m pretty used to getting around and taking care of myself. But exploring a city is different when you know you’re always an easy taxi ride away from your own apartment. Also, the city that I live in is relatively foreigner friendly. They are use to a large expat community and many businesses and stores have English signs or ...

... corner. The driver just laughed and pressed ********* the gas pedal.

When we arrived at the top parking lot, we were in the first 10 vans to arrive, so I guess the speeding paid off. Already the view was spectacular. The elevation is high enough that there are no trees, only moss and windswept rocks. It was a 5 minute climb up a well-marked path to the top of crater looking down onto the main attraction: Heaven Lake. It was ...
