Grey concrete communist concrete apartment blocks, no centre to speak of and surrounded by Coal mines and power stations. Its sins were forgiven slightly when we discovered that the hotel we had booked (at £45 a night) turned out to be the only 5* hotel in the town, and we had been upgraded to a suite J. Well at least we managed 4 nights in a hostel!

Wutai Shan
... dagen ook het recht gaf om met een tourbus door het gebied te reizen. Het dorp lag in een vallei die was omringd met hoge bergen waarop vele tempels zich bevonden.
De volgende dag ben ik vroeg opgestaan om de belangrijkste bezienswaardige tempels: Xaintong, Wanfo en Nanshan, en wat kleinere te bezichtigen. Bij mijn korte trip die dag ervoor door het dorp had ik al vele boedhistische monniken gezien die natuurlijk in grotere getalen aanwezig waren in de tempels. ...
