    ... maybe, but I want to give this location it's due. Like many tourists, I often think, what is this place like?

    At times it reminds of the Smokies in North Carolina with their thick rhododendron understory, small communities in the Berkshires of New England, or creeks going into the Buffalo River in Arkansas. Gradually I've learned that the bamboo is indeed a unique plant that has made this forest a treasure.

    ... this area are bamboo shoots, herbs and at least 30 different mushrooms. We've had them fixed many ways, so much better than what we get in the states.

    I have an afternoon off in the Bamboo Sea, so will now post as many pix as possible. This is the most unusual, beautiful region I've visited in China if not anywhere. It helps we're here in the off-season, would not like it so much when ...

    Auntie Rachel and I had a day to explore in the big city of Shanghai.

    After breakfast we walked along the shopping street to go to place called People's Square. The shopping street looks much different during the day.     I spent the morning actually packing rather than staring and my things. I was able to fully pack and clean before going to lunch.

    I walked around the town for a little while after dinner. I love my after dinner walks. The streets are less crowded and it is the perfect temperature. The days are simply too hot. It is quite comparable to the weather in Tulsa.
