... maybe, but I want to give this location it's due. Like many tourists, I often think, what is this place like?

At times it reminds of the Smokies in North Carolina with their thick rhododendron understory, small communities in the Berkshires of New England, or creeks going into the Buffalo River in Arkansas. ... interesting Chinese literary connections, in addition to Hessler, I guess the main one must be Edgar Snow, who wrote 'Red Star over China' but he's been forgotten, except here. The dinner was held in a very nice hotel (Where Mr. O. stayed last year) and was very formal. Here I exchanged gifts with the principals and began to say ...

... as if it is an important race.

I walked around the town for a little while after dinner. I love my after dinner walks. The streets are less crowded and it is the perfect temperature. The days are simply too hot. It is quite comparable to the weather in Tulsa.

It is time for much needed sleep.

    Until we meet ...
