    Despite yesterday's harrowing day, I am very much alive in Zhengzhou and sinking deeper into a luxurious leather armchair in the central city Starbucks, the first I have seen in weeks.

    ... the 2014 youth Olympics (which I didn't know was a thing). I went to a Buddhist temple near the old Ming walls, the walked on the wall to the park entrance. I then visited the tomb of the first Ming emperor (the only one not buried In Beijing) and the tomb of Sun Yat-Sen--acknowledged by both Nationalists and Communists as the father of republican China.
